Since the release of the new book by Richard Coleman with nice pictures and prices, it is now a lot easier to price these elusive copper coins that saw extensive circulation in the early United States and were legal until at least 1858. He priced the coins using auction records, fixed price lists and of course his extensive knowledge of the series. These coins are mentioned in the Red Book although there is not enough room to list them there.Offered here is a 1775 non regal halfpenny seriously underweight at only 5 grams. About half what it should weigh. Hard to grade such a coin. The color almost looks fake like it has been cleaned, but I think it is original, or perhaps only lightly cleaned. I have collected long enough to know a bit about strike. The edge on the
reverse has a striking ridge which indicates little if any wear. Looks well worn, but it was make to look worn. Remember most evasive coins were made to look worn to make them more acceptable in commerce.
I think this coin is near mint, but your opinion is what matters and not mine. May well have seen service in the early U.S. See the scans. Free shipping. Pay pal, or check.
I am always open to offers on any of my listings. Just ask. Worst thing is I say no.
