    Description

Obverse description: Bust of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805) wearing a pigtail, order and uniform, legend around.
Reverse description: View of a British warship (the HMS victory?) under sail. Legend is misspelled 'Halppenny'. Date "1812" in exergue under a wavy line.
Obverse legend: ENGLAND EXPECTS EVERY MAN TO DO HIS DUTY.
Reverse legend: BRITISH NAVAL HALPPENNY. 1812
History: This token minted seven years after Nelson's death with the purpose to encourage men to enlist for the navy to join the fight against Napoleon.
An interesting detail on the reverse of the coin is the rigging of the British warship is similar to that of the HMS Victory when it started the Battle of Trafalgar.
