Description
This is an 1837 King George IV half penny, a scarce coin from a mintage of only 349,000 pieces. Of those, only 40 have been graded non-details to this point by NGC and this specimen was awarded an excellent grade of AU 58 BN, a distinction only 5 of those 40 graded share. Very sharp details, a nice chocolate brown color, and very clean fields make this ahighly
collectible item.
The engraver of this item was William Wyon. The obverse of this coin features King George IV's bare-headed portrait, the reverse a seated figure of Britannia facing right, with trident in left hand and shield bearing the Union flag in right, and a legend around and national flower emblems.
