    Description

This is an 1837 King George IV half penny, a scarce coin from a mintage of only 349,000 pieces.  Of those, only 40 have been graded non-details to this point by NGC and this specimen was awarded an excellent grade of AU 58 BN, a distinction only 5 of those 40 graded share.  Very sharp details, a nice chocolate brown color, and very clean fields make this a
    highly
    collectible item.
The engraver of this item was William Wyon.  The obverse of this coin features King George IV's bare-headed portrait, the reverse a seated figure of Britannia facing right, with trident in left hand and shield bearing the Union flag in right, and a legend around and national flower emblems.
