Kimono: Antique 1945 Silk Beauty

Description

This beautiful kimono was made in Shingato China in 1945 at the end of WWII.  Some of the lining is from a silk parachute provided by an occupying American soldier.  The length from neck to hem is 54.5".  The chest measurement is 42".  The color and pattern is rich and bright.  It is a moderately heavy outer silk fabric.  Light weight silk inside. The kimono shows its 77 years.  It has spent most of these years in a chest or closet.  There are some faint water staining in lining.  Someone added two clasps at some time in its history.   This piece would love a new home.  It would be a head turner at a very elegant event.
