    This lovely combination cameo pendant/brooch was probably a memento from a pilgrimage to Italy in the later part of the 20
    th
    Century and was donated from the estate of a woman to a religious community in my area.
    It features a carved stone two toned cameo depiction with high translucent quality, of the Blessed Virgin Mary as the Mother of Sorrows (September 15th- traditional feast day in the Roman Catholic Church) surrounded by double marquesites on the four sides, 8 total in all. The reverse has a good working safety clasp, and there is an optional fancy chain made of sterling graded silver, if one chooses to wear this as a pendant.
    The cameo pin measures 1” by 3/4”; the chain has a good working lobster claw clasp and is 18 1/4” long. This comes in a blue velvet case, black velvet lined and measuring 2 ½ by 3 1/4”in size.
    FREE with the purchase of the combination pendant/brooch comes an antique lace edged miniature holy card, depicting Mary as the Mother of Sorrows, see photos # 1, 7 & 8.
    The cameo & chain, vintage circa 1970s in age, is graded in Near Mint condition; I don't think it has ever been otherwise circulated, outside of the original owner.
